This is unprecedented in the history of the Olympic Games. Beijing will become the first city to host an edition of the Olympic Winter Games after an edition of the Olympic Summer Games. For this new edition, 3 cities will be divided into 109 events: Beijing, Yanqing and Zhangjiakou.
The ice events will take place in Beijing, as will the media centre, inheriting the 2008 Olympic venues. At the same time, Yanqing will have the opportunity to host the alpine skiing and sliding events while
Zhangjiakou will host all the other ski events (snowboard, biathlon…).
